Position Overview
We are a leading technology solutions provider serving customers throughout the Southeastern United States, with a strong presence in K-12 and higher education.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Server, Storage & Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions for our customers. This is a highly customer-facing position combining hands-on engineering, technical consulting, solution design, and project delivery across server, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded infrastructure engineer who can assess complex customer environments, translate business and technical requirements into practical solutions, lead deployments and migrations, troubleshoot challenging infrastructure issues, and build trusted relationships with customers.
Experience supporting K-12 school districts and/or higher education institutions is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Technical Consulting

• Assess customer infrastructure environments, identify gaps, and recommend solutions aligned with technical requirements, budgets, staffing, and long-term objectives.
• Design reliable, secure, scalable server, storage, virtualization, backup, and network solutions.
• Partner with sales and account teams during technical discovery, solution validation, demonstrations, and proposal development.
• Develop technical designs, bills of materials (BOMs), statements of work (SOWs), implementation plans, and project estimates.
• Clearly communicate technical recommendations, options, risks, and tradeoffs to IT teams, administrators, and organizational leadership.

Infrastructure Implementation & Project Delivery

• Lead customer infrastructure deployments, migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and modernization projects.
• Install, configure, migrate, and troubleshoot physical and virtual server environments.
• Implement and support SAN/NAS storage, backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Deploy and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and VPN solutions.
• Configure and support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, network segmentation, and related infrastructure services.
• Design and implement high-availability and business-continuity solutions.
• Support on-premises Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace environments.
• Coordinate with project managers, customer teams, technology vendors, and other resources to deliver projects within scope and schedule.
• Perform post-implementation validation, document configurations, and provide customer training and operational handoffs.

Support & Engineering Operations

• Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex server, storage, virtualization, network, and infrastructure issues.
• Diagnose performance, availability, connectivity, configuration, and integration problems and perform root-cause analysis.
• Work directly with manufacturer and vendor support teams to resolve complex hardware and software issues.
• Implement security hardening and infrastructure best practices.
• Automate repetitive deployment, configuration, and administrative tasks where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, implementation standards, and reusable deployment procedures.
• Mentor other engineers and maintain relevant technical and manufacturer certifications.

K-12 & Higher Education Environments

• Design and support infrastructure for multi-campus environments, high-density wireless networks, and large student/staff device populations.
• Plan implementations around instructional schedules, online testing periods, enrollment cycles, and limited maintenance windows.
• Support infrastructure requirements associated with learning platforms, student information systems, research systems, and administrative applications.
• Address requirements involving student data privacy, web filtering, secure access, identity management, and network segmentation.
• Contribute technical documentation and expertise for education procurement and E-Rate projects, as applicable.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, systems integration, implementation, or advanced technical support.
• Strong hands-on experience across enterprise servers, storage, virtualization, and networking, with deep expertise in at least one of these areas.
• Demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure deployments, migrations, upgrades, and refresh projects from planning through customer handoff.
• Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux environments, directory services, and enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
• Experience implementing and supporting SAN/NAS storage, enterprise backup/recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues spanning multiple interconnected infrastructure technologies.
• Strong customer-facing communication, documentation, presentation, and project-coordination skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple customer engagements and priorities.
• Willingness to travel approximately 75% throughout the Southeastern United States, including overnight travel as required.
• Availability for occasional evening or weekend work associated with customer deployments, migrations, and scheduled maintenance.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent combination of technical training and professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting K-12 school districts and/or higher education institutions.
• Experience working for a value-added reseller (VAR), systems integrator, managed services provider (MSP), or manufacturer professional-services organization.
• Experience supporting presales technical discovery, solution architecture, demonstrations, BOM development, and SOW/scoping activities.
• Familiarity with E-Rate, education purchasing processes, and public-sector procurement.
• Experience with hybrid-cloud environments.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Exchange, Google Workspace, and identity integrations.
• Experience with automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Ansible.
• Relevant certifications across networking, servers, storage, virtualization, backup, cloud, or cybersecurity technologies.
