Senior BAS Project Engineer
Building Automation Systems | HVAC Controls | System Design & Project Delivery
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas

Summary: We are seeking a Senior BAS Project Engineer to join a growing team specializing in building automation, HVAC controls, and energy-efficient facility solutions. This role is ideal for a technically minded professional who enjoys designing control systems, solving complex building challenges, and collaborating with both customers and field teams to deliver successful projects.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for developing control system designs, creating project documentation, supporting field implementation, and ensuring building automation systems operate as intended. You\'ll work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, and critical-environment projects while helping deliver intelligent, high-performance building solutions.

What You\'ll Do
  • \tDesign and engineer Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) for new construction and retrofit projects
  • \tDevelop sequences of operation, control strategies, and system architectures based on project requirements
  • \tCreate control drawings, submittals, installation packages, and as-built documentation
  • \tGenerate bills of material and assist with equipment and controls selection
  • \tReview mechanical and electrical plans to ensure proper integration of control systems
  • \tProvide technical guidance and engineering support to project managers, programmers, and field technicians
  • \tAssist with system startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification when needed
  • \tReview equipment submittals and coordinate controls integration with HVAC and mechanical systems
  • \tSupport project procurement activities and coordinate with vendors and manufacturers
  • \tParticipate in project meetings and maintain communication with customers, contractors, and internal teams
  • \tContribute to engineering standards, best practices, and continuous process improvement initiatives

Qualifications
  • \tExperience designing, engineering, or implementing Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC)
  • \tStrong understanding of HVAC systems, controls sequences, and building operations
  • \tAbility to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings
  • \tKnowledge of industry communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks
  • \tStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • \tExcellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Experience
  • \tBachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline
  • \tAssociate degree or technical training combined with relevant controls experience will also be considered
  • \tExperience with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Automated Logic, Alerton, Distech, or similar systems
  • \tFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office, and related engineering software
  • \tPrevious experience supporting commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, or mission-critical facilities

This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites for coordination, commissioning support, and customer interaction.
