Job Summary
We are seeking a Functional Safety Software & Automation Engineer to develop automation solutions that improve the efficiency, consistency, and traceability of automotive Functional Safety activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong Python development and automation experience, along with knowledge of ISO 26262, Functional Safety processes, requirements traceability, engineering tools, APIs, and data analytics. The candidate will work closely with Functional Safety, Systems Engineering, Software, and other engineering teams to automate manual processes and improve compliance and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Python-based automation frameworks, scripts, dashboards, and tools for Functional Safety activities.
- Automate Functional Safety work products, assessments, verification, confirmation reviews, and requirements traceability.
- Integrate engineering data across tools such as GitHub, Codebeamer, MagicDraw/Cameo, and other engineering platforms.
- Develop solutions to improve data quality, traceability, consistency, and engineering productivity.
- Apply AI/ML and data analytics techniques where appropriate to engineering automation use cases.
- Develop reusable validation and reporting solutions for Functional Safety lifecycle activities.
- Support generation of compliance evidence and audit-ready documentation.
- Work with Systems Engineering and Functional Safety teams to understand pain points and convert them into scalable automation solutions.
- Develop and integrate REST/API-based solutions between engineering tools.
- Maintain technical documentation and ensure automation solutions are reliable and maintainable.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on Python development experience.
- Experience developing automation frameworks and engineering productivity tools.
- Understanding of Functional Safety and ISO 26262.
- Experience with requirements management and traceability.
- Experience working with APIs and system/tool integrations.
- Hands-on experience with Git/GitHub.
- Experience with Codebeamer, MagicDraw/Cameo, or similar engineering tools.
- Knowledge of AI/ML, data analytics, or data-driven automation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
- Automotive Functional Safety experience.
- Experience with MBSE/SysML.
- Experience automating engineering processes and compliance workflows.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Codebeamer.
- Experience integrating multiple engineering tools through APIs.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety work products, verification, validation, and confirmation review processes.
- Experience working in large automotive engineering environments.
