Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Application Development QA team. This position is ideal for a hands-on QA professional with strong manual testing experience and exposure to test automation. We are looking for someone who enjoys finding defects, validating business requirements, and ensuring software quality throughout the development lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web, desktop, and API applications.
- Perform hands-on manual testing, including functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing.
- Design and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, WebDriverIO, or similar technologies.
- Validate applications against business requirements, user stories, and technical specifications.
- Document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Partner closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure software quality throughout the SDLC.
- Execute regression testing activities prior to production releases.
- Provide testing status, quality metrics, and risk assessments to leadership and project teams.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on Software QA experience.
- Strong background in manual testing with proven experience creating and executing test cases.
- Experience performing functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing.
- At least 1 year of hands-on automation experience using Playwright, Cypress, WebDriverIO, or similar tools.
- Ability to write and maintain automation scripts using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js-based technologies.
- Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar defect management platforms.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies, SDLC, and Agile development practices.
- Experience testing web-based applications; desktop and API testing experience is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a genuine hands-on tester who has spent the majority of their career performing manual QA while developing some automation capabilities along the way. We are seeking someone who can confidently discuss testing methodologies, test case design, defect management, and automation tools they have personally used in production environments. This is not a role for a pure automation engineer, framework architect, or QA manager. It is a hands-on testing position requiring strength in both manual QA fundamentals and automation scripting.
