IBM MQ z/OS Middleware Engineer
- End client has offices in Rancho Cordova ( near Sacramento) and San Jose. You might need to be onsite occasionally
- 12 month+ contract with the Government ( ship required )
Mandatory Qualifications - Must show a minimum of five (5) years of experience:
1) Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot and maintain IBM MQ on mainframe platforms (z/OS).
2) Monitor queue managers, channels, and message flows to ensure optimal performance.
3) Troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related incidents, ensuring minimal downtime.
4) Collaborate with application teams to design and implement messaging solutions.
5) Perform capacity planning, upgrades, and patch management.
6) Maintain/write documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
PROJECT TASKS/DELIVERABLES
1. Review configurations and hardware platforms.
2. Review installed and started services.
3. Review default run levels and options.
4. Review level of installed updates.
5. Review provisioning infrastructure and process.
6. Identify potential issues and develop suggestions for changes to existing configurations including toleration
7. Lead and make suggested changes
8. Troubleshoot incidents and respond to requests relating to MQ on z/OS.
9. Assist client with installation and configuration of MQ z/OS software
10. Assist with the following tasks as directed by client
- 1. Planning, structuring, and deploying z/OS MQ environment.
- 2. Assist with the deployment and configuration of z/OS MQ layered applications.
- 3. Provide remote system support for z/OS MQ environments.
- 4. Assisting with system diagnosis and potential recommendations for z/OS MQ related issues.
- 5. Provide general knowledge transfer, training, and documentation as appropriate.
- 6. Provide suggestions for optimization and assisting with configuration changes where appropriate.
- 7. Provide additional suggestions on process, configuration, or architecture as appropriate.
- 9. Ensure MQ environment stability after z/OS (and other product) upgrades
- E. Research, installation, configuration, and management of IBM s z/OS MQ products.
