Description

SAIC is seeking a Data Distribution Systems Engineer to support the LANDMARK AOS program in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you will provide high-impact technical and acquisition expertise across the full life cycle of multi-cloud data distribution capabilities within the NRO's Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED). Your work will be central to helping Government leadership navigate complex engineering, architectural, and programmatic decisions that shape the evolution of the customer's enterprise-wide data movement, sharing, and interoperability frameworks.

As part of the LANDMARK AOS team, you will collaborate closely with system engineers, developers, mission partners, FFRDC personnel, and SETA teammates to drive the successful definition, deployment, and integration of modern data-distribution services across hybrid-cloud environments. This includes supporting the transition of multiple mission programs to cloud-based architectures and ensuring the resulting solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and aligned with Government priorities for enterprise-level data accessibility and cross-mission sharing.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in distributed data systems, cloud-native architectures, and enterprise integration. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, shaping the design, assessment, and implementation of advanced data-distribution capabilities that enable timely, reliable, and mission-driven data flow across diverse user communities and operational environments.

In this role, you will support the development of hardware and software solutions required to enable resilient data distribution, working hands-on with development contractors to ensure mission needs are fully met. You will provide unbiased technical evaluations, guide cloud transition efforts, and help steer teams toward solutions that optimize performance, interoperability, and maintainability across the Ground Enterprise.

Responsibilities to include:
  • Serve as a trusted technical liaison across Government, developers, and mission stakeholders, proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving challenges that impact enterprise-level data distribution capabilities.
  • Advise senior Government and technical personnel on the design, evolution, and delivery of scalable, resilient, and secure data-distribution architectures across on-prem, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
  • Monitor Government-sponsored development efforts by evaluating current and emerging system architectures, supporting integration activities, and delivering ongoing, unbiased assessments of products, services, and platform providers.
  • Provide systems-engineering expertise to troubleshoot data-flow, integration, and interoperability issues, collaborating across engineering teams to ensure solutions meet mission, performance, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external development teams, developing a deep understanding of data-distribution pathways and translating complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for program leadership.
  • Assess maintenance, system readiness, and development activities to ensure data-distribution capabilities meet enterprise test timelines and support mission-critical operational environments.
  • Provide SETA advisory support to maintain and evolve the enterprise data-distribution architecture, ensuring solutions optimize performance, cost, scalability, and operational resiliency across services and cloud platform providers.
  • Develop and propose innovative architectural approaches that address ambiguous or emerging mission needs, enabling rapid adaptation across evolving operational use cases.
  • Review and assess the impacts of proposed scope or requirements changes on future data-distribution architectures, providing clear technical recommendations to support Government decision-making.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. Relevant experience to be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Current and Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise-level distributed systems, data-flow architectures, and system-of-systems integration, including experience supporting or evaluating cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-prem environments.
    • Working knowledge of customer enterprise architectures and operational environments, with experience collaborating across Government, SETA, FFRDC, and developer teams.
    • Familiarity with operating systems, compute environments, and cloud platforms (e.g., Linux, Windows, AWS, Azure).
    • Demonstrated ability to support cloud transitions, enterprise integration efforts, or system migration activities, including coordinating across multiple technical teams.
    • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience contributing to iterative development or integration cycles.
    • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior Government leadership.
    • Strong collaboration, customer-service orientation, and ability to operate within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced acquisition environment.
    • Proven ability to adapt to evolving priorities and respond proactively in a dynamic mission environment.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
