Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Java Developer to join our team in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will have over a decade of experience in enterprise software development, specifically within the Investment Banking domain. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting mission-critical applications, utilizing legacy and modern Java technologies to drive business value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable enterprise applications using Java technologies.
- Maintain and enhance existing systems built on Java 6 and Java 7, ensuring stability and performance.
- Manage and optimize complex database interactions using Sybase as the primary RDBMS.
- Develop and support mission-critical applications within an Investment Banking environment.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and lead technical discussions.
- Mentor junior development teams and promote best practices.
- Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in designing and developing enterprise applications in Java technologies.
- Domain Expertise: Strong background in Investment Banking is mandatory.
- Core Java: Strong expertise in Core Java (versions 6 & 7), Shell Scripting, and EJB.
- Database: deep experience working with Sybase as the primary RDBMS, including strong expertise in SQL, stored procedures, and SQL Optimization.
- Mission-Critical Systems: Proven experience in developing and supporting high-availability, mission-critical applications.
- Best Practices: Strong knowledge of software development best practices, design patterns, and secure coding standards.
- DevOps: Experience with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Methodology: Experience working in Agile methodologies.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor development teams, and demonstrate great proactiveness.
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement scalable solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with modern Java versions (Java 8+) is a plus, though the primary focus is on legacy support.
- Knowledge of financial instruments and trading systems.
