Buildmaster Engineer (GitLab | CI/CD | Release Management | DevOps)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Buildmaster Engineer to manage and govern the enterprise software build and release ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining source code integrity, administering GitLab, managing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring reliable software delivery across multiple development streams.

This role requires strong expertise in GitLab administration, source code management, release governance, build automation, and DevOps practices. The successful candidate will work closely with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to streamline software delivery and improve engineering productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain GitLab repositories, groups, permissions, and repository governance.
• Define and manage branching strategies, merge requests, tagging, and version control standards.
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, deployment, and release management.
• Coordinate code merges, branching, release activities, and code promotion across multiple development streams.
• Monitor build health, pipeline performance, deployment success rates, and resolve build-related issues.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve build and deployment efficiency.
• Establish and enforce best practices for source code management, release governance, and DevOps processes.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to ensure smooth software delivery.
• Support release planning, deployment scheduling, and production readiness activities.
• Troubleshoot build failures, deployment issues, and CI/CD pipeline problems.
• Drive continuous improvements in automation, software delivery, and release processes.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Build Engineering, Release Engineering, or DevOps.
• Strong hands-on experience with GitLab administration and repository management.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of Source Code Management (SCM) and version control best practices.
• Experience with branching, merging, tagging, versioning, and release management methodologies.
• Proficiency in scripting using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with software build automation and deployment processes.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Coding knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot build and deployment issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
