Role: ETL Data Integration Engineer
Location: Onsite in Fairfax, VA 3 days and in Washington, DC 2 days per week.
Duration: Long Term Contract

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The ETL Data Integration Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing ETL pipelines using AWS cloud-native services. The role requires hands-on experience with cloud-native ETL tools, modern data architecture, and best practices for secure, efficient data movement across distributed systems. Support for large data migrations and integrations into AWS from legacy systems is required. Establishes data governance and compliance in cloud environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Chief Architect in development of ETL methodologies and tools
- Design and implement ETL pipelines using cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Google Cloud Platform Dataflow).
- Integrate data from diverse sources (APIs, SaaS applications, on-prem systems) into cloud data warehouses.
- Build automated workflows using tools like Airflow or cloud orchestration services.
- Monitor and optimize ETL jobs for cost efficiency, scalability, and reliability in cloud environments.
- Implement data validation, encryption, and compliance measures aligned with cloud security best practices.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business analysts to deliver robust data solutions.
- Maintain clear documentation for cloud ETL processes and integration workflows.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Recommend improvements to IT processes and workflows for efficiency and scalability.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 10+ years in Data Integration for DoD contracts
- Over 5 years supporting data migrations and integrations into AWS from legacy systems
- Proficiency in cloud-native ETL tools (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Google Cloud Platform Dataflow).
- Strong skills in Python or SQL for ETL scripting and automation
- Knowledge of Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or similar.
- Version Control: Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Agile and DevSecOps project knowledge
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication
- Familiarity with DoD systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and cloud platforms
Certifications Preferred:
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- AWS Certified Data Engineer
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance.
Work Location:
3 days in Fairfax, VA, 2 days in Washington, D.C.
