Senior Software Triage & Automation Engineer

We are also tasked with enabling Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute in the cloud. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Triage & Automation Engineer with a proven track record of developing technology that has made a significant impact.

The ideal candidate possesses expertise in debugging, analyzing, and triaging complex issues across diverse stack elements, encompassing iOS, macOS, and cloud-based software components. This role necessitates a solid foundation in programming languages used for building these systems (such as C, C++, Objective-C, or Swift), complemented by proficient Python skills for automation and data analysis. These capabilities will facilitate the reduction of manual triaging effort and expedite issue resolution. The candidate will also demonstrate exceptional analytical abilities, communication skills, and a structured problem-solving approach. This role serves as the initial line of defense for incoming issues involving investigation, categorization, root-cause hypothesis generation, providing updates to leadership, and offering guidance to development teams. Concurrently, the candidate will design systems to automate these processes. By combining hands-on debugging with strategic automation, the candidate contributes to faster resolution and higher product reliability.

5+ years of professional experience in software development, debugging, or triage engineering.\nStrong hands-on experience with iOS/macOS internals, frameworks, and system-level components.\nProficiency in at least one C-type programming language (C, C++, Objective-C, Swift).\nStrong Python experience for building automation tools, data analysis pipelines, and scripting workflows.\nDemonstrated ability to analyze complex software issues, crashes, and performance bottlenecks.\nTrack record of reducing manual work through strategic automation initiatives.\nExperience working with log analysis tools, crash reporting frameworks, and debuggers (eg. LLDB, Instruments, Xcode tools, Console, sysdiagnose, etc.).\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.\nBachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Swift proficiency preferred for creating native diagnostic tools and understanding modern iOS/macOS codebases.\nExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and distributed systems debugging.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and issue-tracking systems (Jira, Radar, Bugzilla).\nExperience with data analysis tools (SQL, Pandas, Jupyter) for identifying patterns in large bug datasets.\nKnowledge of machine learning applications in DevOps/AIOps.\nExperience with observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, ELK stack).\nBackground in customer-facing technical support or incident management.
