About the Role: We re seeking a hands-on, player-coach Cloud Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining a large-scale, highly available cloud environment. This role bridges technical leadership and operational execution, with a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps best practices, and compliance in a highly regulated environment. You ll drive automation initiatives, mentor engineers, and serve as a key technical liaison across distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and develop a team of cloud/DevOps engineers while remaining hands-on with architecture and automation Design, implement, and manage fully automated cloud provisioning workflows using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet) Oversee containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems (Kubernetes, Jenkins, Kafka, GitHub) Ensure 24x7 platform reliability, SLA compliance, capacity planning, and disaster recovery readiness Drive compliance with security frameworks (CIS, NIST) and regulatory standards; lead audit remediation and change control processes Develop technology roadmaps, manage EOL transitions, and execute production changes during defined maintenance windows Manage Agile/Scrum workflows, prioritize project backlogs, and communicate technical updates to senior leadership
Required Technical Skills & Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in cloud systems architecture, operations, and automation (AWS and/or Azure) Proven expertise with Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Kafka, GitHub, and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet) Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps pipeline implementation experience Demonstrated success leading technical teams in highly available, mission-critical 24x7 environments Experience working in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government) with audit/compliance exposure (OCC, NIST, CIS, etc.) Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies with strong project/task management capabilities Excellent verbal/written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across distributed, cross-functional teams Scripting/development experience in Python, Ruby, Go, or Java (strongly desired)
Education & Certifications: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field (or equivalent experience) AWS Solutions Architect Associate (or higher) certification strongly preferred Additional cloud certifications (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) are a plus
