Senior Data Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, implement, and optimize modern data solutions. This role will focus on building and maintaining scalable data architectures, ensuring performance, security, and cost efficiency across cloud-based platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Snowflake and related technologies, along with strong collaboration skills to work across diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Snowflake-based lakehouse architectures.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data curation processes.
- Configure and manage Snowflake accounts, resource monitors, virtual warehouses, and access controls.
- Integrate Snowflake with financial systems and other third-party data sources.
- Apply best practices for data partitioning, clustering, and caching to improve performance and reduce costs.
- Automate data ingestion, metadata management, and monitoring within Snowflake environments.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce governance, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Support CI/CD processes and automate Snowflake deployments and pipeline orchestration.
- Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in data warehousing and cloud data platforms, with at least 5 years in lakehouse environments.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake migration projects preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance or financial data governance is a plus.
- Strong background in Agile and DevOps practices, including automation and pipeline deployment.
- Certifications such as SnowPro Core or relevant cloud certifications are desirable.
- Expertise in Snowflake features (Time Travel, Zero Copy Cloning, Streams, Tasks) and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS) and orchestration tools (DBT, Airflow).
- Solid understanding of data security, RBAC, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of enterprise data modeling principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Work Location:
Hybrid role requiring on-site presence 3 days per week at the designated office.
