Job Title: Cloud Backend Engineer
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Duration: Contract - 6 months
Pay Range: $75/hr - $80/hr (W2)
Interview Process: Two rounds of technical and coding assessments. Highly prefer onsite interviews with local candidates. Zoom with screen sharing for nonlocal candidates.

Job Description
We are seeking a Cloud Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in AWS cloud services, backend engineering, and data engineering and a proven ability to design, build, and operate scalable, reliable cloud-native services.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native backend services on AWS using Java and Python.
- Build and optimize data pipelines and integrations leveraging Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, and Cassandra.
- Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform and ensure operational stability and observability.
- Develop services and APIs using Spring Boot and gRPC following microservices patterns.
- Apply CI/CD, resiliency, and security best practices across the software lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions and support technical assessments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Formal training or certification in software engineering and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operations in AWS.
- Proficiency in Java and Python.
- Expertise with data engineering tools and processes including Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Cassandra, and ETL.
- Experience with AWS services: Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and ECS.
- Experience building services with Spring Boot and gRPC APIs.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, and containers.
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within cloud and related domains.
Preferred Skills:
- AWS Solutions Architect Certification.
