Job Summary
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Universal Starting Platform (USP) technology team. In this role, you will design, build, test, and maintain software solutions that support a scalable, cloud-based healthcare platform used by providers and care teams nationwide.
You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into reliable, high-quality software. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building modern applications, collaborating in cross-functional teams, and continuously improving how software is delivered.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support
- Collaborate with Product and Design partners to understand requirements and deliver working solutions
- Build and maintain scalable, cloud-based services and user-facing applications
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to shared engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and production issues within owned components
- Contribute to improving system reliability, performance, security, and maintainability
- Work effectively within an agile, team-based development environment
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of professional software development experience and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Required Qualifications- Experience with one or more modern programming languages or frameworks
- Familiarity with building or consuming APIs and services
- Experience working in a team-based, collaborative development environment
- Ability to learn new technologies and apply feedback to improve technical skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience developing cloud-based applications (Azure experience is a plus)
- Exposure to modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React) or backend service development
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
- Experience working with event-driven or distributed systems
- Interest in healthcare, platform engineering, or large-scale systems
- Experience delivering AI-enabled capabilities and automated processes in production environments.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
