Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a GIS Mapper for a contract position in South Plainfield, NJ. The opportunity will be for three months with a strong chance for a long-term extension.

Position Summary: This position involves working with geospatial data and requires candidates to be on-site initially for training. Following successful training, candidates may transition to a hybrid work model, depending on client requirements and work assignments. There is also a weekly rotation for travel to sub-headquarters for print distributions.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Edit, update, and modify geospatial data within a map.
• Maintain the GIS model on the electric side.
• Perform analysis and create custom maps.
• Process work orders into GIS and manage print distribution of updates.
• Handle some tabular data and analysis.
• Conduct fieldwork as needed (5-10% of the time).
• Maintain the GIS connected model with data from various sources.
• Perform analysis or queries and prepare reports, charts, and maps.
• Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests.
• Maintain service point data and its relationship to feeding source transformers.
• Track the lifespan of utility asset data, including history and inspections.
• Resolve data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through investigation.
• Perform GIS work on major projects like facility relocations and new business.
• Operate automated office equipment and perform manual or computer-aided drafting.
• Operate a car or light truck as needed.
• Assist other employees in plant work, field, or office tasks.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of GIS experience in any industry, with a strong understanding of GIS systems.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD is a strong plus.
• Experience using GIS applications and understanding GIS relationships.
• Open to recent college graduates with GIS experience through school or internships.
• 1-2 years of GIS experience (school or work-related).
• Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of company business applications and utility systems.
• Must be able to work at various client locations based on business needs.
• Valid driver''s license to operate motor vehicles in New Jersey.
• Proficient in MS Office and other Windows applications.
