Payments Technology Lead / Architect

We are hiring for a Payments Technology Lead / Architect role to drive a large-scale payment modernization initiative within a leading financial services environment. This is a long-term contract opportunity with strong extension potential.

Location & Work Model

• Preferred: Miami, FL or South Florida area – Hybrid

• Also open to: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid and open to Remote with some travel to any of these locations.

• Strong candidates in nearby locations who can travel periodically may also be considered

Contract Duration: 12–14 months (extendable)

Role Overview:

• We are looking for a senior-level technologist (Tech Lead/Architect) with deep expertise in modern payment platforms, real-time payment rails, and financial messaging standards. The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on engineering skills with the ability to lead architecture and modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technically lead payment modernization initiatives across enterprise platforms
• Design and implement end-to-end payment flows for Wires, FX, and RTP
• Provide architectural guidance for payment hub integrations and modernization
• Collaborate with compliance, fraud, and AML teams to ensure regulatory alignment
• Guide development teams on microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures

Required Experience-

Payments & Banking Domain:

• 10–12+ years of hands-on experience with Wires and RTP (Send/Receive) payment rails
• Strong expertise in FX payments and end-to-end customer payment journeys
• Experience with FRB (Federal Reserve Bank) and TCH (The Clearing House) connectivity
• Hands-on experience with payment messaging standards: ISO 20022, MX, MT100 (FX Wire)
• Experience integrating AML & sanctions systems such as Actimize Exceed and Fircosoft
• Solid understanding of BSA, AML, and US PATRIOT Act compliance requirements

Payment Platforms:

• Experience leading or implementing payment hub solutions such as Finastra, FIS, or Volante

Technical Expertise:

• 8+ years of experience with Java and Python
• Strong background in Object-Oriented design and Microservices architecture
• API Management using MuleSoft, Apigee, or AWS API Gateway
• Messaging technologies: MQ, Kafka
• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL
