Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct regulatory compliance research and analyze healthcare compliance questions
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery materials
  • Take and defend depositions, and support trial preparation
  • Assist with hearings and court appearances
  • Advise on and research issues related to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, the False Claims Act, Stark Law, and the Anti-Kickback Statute
  • Handle matters involving state licensure actions, payor recoupments, and false claims proceedings
  • Support the broader Healthcare Practice Group across litigation, enforcement actions, and administrative proceedings
  • Provide responsive, detail-oriented service to a diverse client base including hospitals, physician practices, behavioral health providers, and long-term care facilities

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active North Carolina State Bar license, or ability to obtain licensure within one year
  • Minimum 1-3 years of litigation experience, ideally with a healthcare focus
  • Experience or strong background in healthcare regulatory compliance, including familiarity with HIPAA, False Claims Act, Stark Law, and/or -Anti-Kickback Statute
  • Experience with administrative proceedings, state licensure matters, or payor recoupments is a strong plus
  • Proven ability to draft high-quality legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to responsive client service and close attention to detail
