The Embedded Systems, Sensing & IoT Electrical Engineer will own the hardware and firmware supporting Milwaukee Tool's internal data collection platforms used across product development. These systems enable engineering teams to instrument products, automate testing, capture high-quality data, and accelerate design decisions throughout the development lifecycle. You will collaborate across electrical, firmware, mechanical, test, machine learning, and cloud software teams to develop next-generation sensing technologies, improve connected data collection systems, and enable intelligent product features.

You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded electronics including hardware and firmware for low complexity projects under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.
  • Conduct experiments, perform simulations, and draw concise, logical conclusions by analyzing data.
  • Track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and Milwaukee Tool's processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams globally.
  • Schedule, develop agendas for, facilitate, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.
  • Develop and apply manufacturing mindset to designs to effectively and efficiently mass produce power tools.
  • Acquire knowledge and maintain an understanding of Milwaukee Tool's development and manufacturing processes.
  • Design and qualify new solutions to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
  • Experience developing embedded firmware using C/C++ on microcontroller-based systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded communication protocols such as SPI, I C, UART, CAN, Bluetooth Low Energy, or Wi-Fi.
  • Experience integrating sensors, instrumentation, or data acquisition systems into embedded applications.
  • Exposure to Python or similar scripting languages for automation, test development, or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Exposure to cloud-connected devices, IoT architectures, or embedded-to-cloud communication.
  • Interest in learning distributed software systems and collaborating with cloud engineering teams.
  • Interest in developing sensing technologies and embedded platforms that enable next-generation connected products and intelligent features.
