Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst, Workday Financials to support and enhance Workday Financials, with primary responsibility for Banking & Settlement, payment processing, bank integrations, cash reconciliation, financial configuration, and related financial processes.

This is a hands-on Workday role responsible for supporting critical financial processes, configuring and enhancing Workday Financials, resolving production issues, translating Finance and Treasury requirements into system solutions, supporting financial integrations, performing transaction-level troubleshooting, executing functional testing, and delivering system enhancements.

The successful candidate will combine strong Workday Financials expertise, Banking & Settlement experience, financial and accounting knowledge, configuration experience, analytical troubleshooting skills, and systems thinking.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary functional resource for Workday Financials Banking & Settlement, including payments, settlement, bank statement processing, bank integrations, cash reconciliation, and automated reconciliation.
Configure, test, and support Workday Financials solutions, including banking, payment, accounting, reconciliation, validation, and related financial configuration.
Provide hands-on production support and troubleshooting for failed integrations, missing files, payment exceptions, draft transactions, settlement issues, bank statement issues, and reconciliation differences.
Translate Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Finance requirements into Workday configuration, integration, data, reporting, and control solutions.
Support and troubleshoot financial integrations and transaction flows across source systems, Workday, banking partners, and downstream applications.
Perform end-to-end transaction analysis and reconciliation to identify processing exceptions, determine root cause, and implement or coordinate appropriate remediation.
Configure and test Workday changes in non-production environments, support business validation and approval, and coordinate approved changes through production implementation.
Develop and utilize Workday reporting, transaction history, audit information, and operational controls to support financial operations, troubleshooting, and reconciliation.
Lead or contribute to Workday Financials enhancements, releases, production support, and Finance transformation initiatives, including engagement with Workday Support when necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting Workday Financials in a production enterprise environment.
Strong functional and configuration experience with Workday Banking & Settlement.
Experience independently troubleshooting complex financial transactions, integrations, and production issues within Workday.
Strong understanding of financial accounting and transaction processing and the relationship between system configuration, transaction data, and resulting accounting.
Experience translating Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, or Finance requirements into Workday solutions.
Experience supporting Workday configuration changes through analysis, testing, business validation, and production implementation.
Demonstrated ability to perform root-cause analysis across Workday and interfacing financial systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to independently own complex financial systems work while collaborating effectively across Finance and technology teams.
This role requires direct, hands-on Workday Financials experience. Experience primarily focused on requirements gathering, project management, or coordination of Workday resources without direct Workday Financials operational and configuration experience does not meet the requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced experience across both Workday Banking & Settlement and Financial Accounting.
Experience supporting high-volume or complex payment and disbursement environments.
Experience with BAI2 and/or ISO 20022 financial messaging.
Experience supporting enterprise check, ACH, EFT, or other electronic disbursement processes.
Experience developing Workday financial reporting, reconciliation controls, or operational automation.
Experience working directly with Workday Support to diagnose complex product or configuration issues.
Experience supporting Workday Financials releases and significant production changes.
Experience supporting Finance modernization, automation, integration, or data-transformation initiatives.

What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate will provide strong functional and configuration ownership across Workday Banking & Settlement, with complementary capability across Financial Accounting, integrations, production support, reporting, controls, and reconciliation.

This individual will be capable of independently working across the financial transaction lifecycle:
Finance/Treasury requirement → Workday configuration → integration/data → transaction processing → exception handling → settlement → accounting → banking/downstream processing → reconciliation

Success requires the ability to work directly within Workday Financials to configure solutions, investigate transactions, diagnose production issues, understand accounting impacts, troubleshoot integrations, test changes, reconcile results, and validate successful implementation.

Top 3 skills:

  • Workday Banking and Settlement- configuration experience within this specific module.
  • Workday Core Financials- experience with work tags, values, and system interactions to automate transactions and processes.
  • Transaction and Payments Troubleshooting- Ability to understand the payment creation and settlement lifecycle, draft exception management processes, and document troubleshooting steps for repeatability.
  • Financial Integrations- experience diagnosing integration exceptions, specifically with banking partners (positive pay files, BAI2 files) and various source systems.
  • Testing and Change Delivery: Ability to test changes in a non-production environment and push to production when necessary.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of general accounting principles to diagnose troubleshooting opportunities within Workday; company-specific accounting structure is not required.
