Job Description: 

  Role Summary We are looking for an experienced SAP Data Engineer / HANA Data Modeler with strong SAP functional knowledge and extensive hands-on experience modeling SAP data for enterprise data warehouse and analytics platforms. This is not just an ETL/data engineering role. The ideal candidate should understand how SAP business processes are represented across underlying SAP tables and be able to translate complex SAP transactional structures into scalable, business-friendly dimensional and analytical models. The candidate should be comfortable working with SAP functional teams, data engineers, architects, BI teams, and business stakeholders to understand the business process, identify the appropriate SAP source tables and relationships, and design data models that can support enterprise reporting and analytics. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design and develop enterprise data models using data originating from SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA. 

• Understand SAP business processes and translate functional requirements into technical data models. Identify the appropriate SAP tables, keys, relationships, joins, document flows, and business rules necessary to represent business processes correctly. 

• Build and optimize SAP HANA Calculation Views and analytical models. Transform complex SAP transactional structures into fact, dimension, and other analytics-ready models for enterprise data warehousing. 

• Model SAP data across functional areas such as: Sales & Distribution (SD) Materials Management (MM) Finance / Controlling (FI/CO) Order-to-Cash Procure-to-Pay Inventory and Supply Chain Understand relationships across common SAP business objects such as sales orders, deliveries, billing documents, purchase orders, material movements, inventory, customers, vendors, materials, and financial postings. 

• Work with functional SMEs to validate that data models accurately represent the underlying SAP business process. 

• Develop reusable, scalable models that can support BI reporting, ad hoc SQL analytics, dashboards, and downstream data products. Perform data reconciliation and validation between SAP source systems and warehouse/analytical models. 

• Troubleshoot complex SAP data issues by tracing records through source tables, transformations, and downstream models. 

• Partner with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to establish modeling patterns and standards for SAP data. 

• Document source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, business definitions, lineage, and model relationships. 

Required Experience: 

• Strong hands-on experience as an SAP Data Engineer, SAP HANA Modeler, SAP BW/HANA developer, or SAP-focused Data Warehouse Modeler. 

• Extensive experience working directly with SAP transactional tables, not only consuming predefined extracts or reports. 

• Strong SAP functional understanding combined with technical data modeling experience. Demonstrated experience converting SAP transactional data into enterprise data warehouse or dimensional models. 

• Strong understanding of fact/dimension modeling, star schemas, conformed dimensions, grain, surrogate keys, and historical data handling. 

• Hands-on SAP HANA modeling experience, particularly Calculation Views and SQL-based transformations. 

• Strong SQL skills and ability to analyze large and complex SAP datasets. 

• Experience understanding and implementing business logic involving header/item relationships, master data, transactional data, status information, and document flows. 

• Experience with data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and source-to-target mapping.
