Position OverviewThe Network Technician will support the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of the corporate headquarters network infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of LAN/WAN systems, switching, routing, wireless networks, and related hardware. Operating within a large enterprise environment, the Network Technician will provide hands-on support for network deployments, troubleshooting, monitoring, and lifecycle management of network equipment.
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Infrastructure Support
1. Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and network cabling.
2. Perform patching, labeling, and documentation of physical network connections in data closets and server rooms.
3. Assist with upgrades, replacements, and technology refreshes across core and edge network environments.
Troubleshooting & Monitoring1. Monitor network performance using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Aruba AirWave, PRTG).
2. Diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and VoIP connectivity issues.
3. Escalate complex problems to sr network engineers while providing detailed diagnostic data.
Operational Support1. Provide prompt support for headquarters users and departments experiencing network connectivity issues.
2. Assist with network-related components of office expansions, relocations, or reconfigurations.
3. Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and incident response.
Documentation & Compliance1. Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, IP address assignments, equipment inventory, and patch panel layouts.
2. Follow ITIL-aligned processes for incident, change, and problem management.
3. Ensure all network changes follow corporate security, compliance, and audit standards.
Security & Best Practices1. Support network security initiatives, including firmware updates, vulnerability remediation, and configuration hardening.
2. Assist in maintaining NAC systems, 802.1X authentication, and device compliance policies.
3. Identify potential risks and recommend improvements to enhance network availability and resilience.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
