Job Summary

Value Technology is seeking a highly skilled Python backend Developer with 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications and data processing platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, SQL, AWS, microservices, and large-scale data engineering, with experience building high-performance APIs, distributed systems, and healthcare data solutions. In this role, you will design and optimize backend services, risk calculation engines, and data pipelines that process large volumes of claims and clinical data to support value-based care initiatives. You will collaborate closely with product managers, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions while following Agile development practices and DevOps principles.

Role summary

• Design, build and operate the backend services and data-processing engines that power Client's value-based care platform — including the risk/financial calculation engines that turn claims and clinical data into actionable insights for independent practices.
• Key responsibilities
• Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs and batch/stream data pipelines in a healthcare data environment.
• Develop and optimize calculation/risk engines that process large volumes of claims and clinical data.
• Write well-tested, production-grade code and participate in code reviews, CI/CD and on-call rotation.
• Partner with product and data teams to translate requirements into reliable, performant services.

Skills: Python, SQL, AWS

• Strong production experience building services and data pipelines; relational database design and query optimization; deploying and operating workloads on AWS (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3).
• Experience with large-scale data processing (Spark, Airflow, dbt or similar).
• Healthcare / claims / EHR data exposure.
• Microservices, event-driven architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
