Position Overview
Bank is seeking a strategic and collaborative Business Architect to join the Enterprise Architecture team. This individual will play a critical role in defining and evolving the organization s business architecture to ensure alignment between enterprise strategy, operating models, capabilities, and execution initiatives.
The Business Architect serves as a bridge between business leadership and technology teams, helping translate strategic objectives into actionable business capabilities, value streams, and transformation roadmaps. This role will partner closely with executives, enterprise architects, product teams, and delivery organizations to drive strategic alignment and measurable business outcomes across the enterprise.
This position is ideal for a professional with deep business architecture expertise, strong executive communication skills, and experience operating within large, complex enterprise environments preferably within financial services.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Alignment
- Translate enterprise strategy into business capability models, value streams, and initiative roadmaps
- Ensure transformation initiatives align with strategic objectives and measurable business outcomes
- Support long-term business and operating model planning efforts
Business Architecture Modeling
- Develop and maintain business capability maps, value streams, operating models, and business architecture artifacts
- Define and document current-state and target-state business architecture views
- Create executive-ready visualizations and strategic planning materials
Transformation & Investment Guidance
- Identify capability gaps and improvement opportunities across the enterprise
- Support portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and business case development
- Provide business architecture guidance for enterprise transformation initiatives
Enterprise Analysis & Design
- Assess business processes, organizational structures, and supporting systems for alignment and operational effectiveness
- Define business-driven requirements and strategic inputs for transformation programs
- Partner with technology teams to ensure solutions align with intended business outcomes
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with executives, business leaders, Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Product teams, and delivery organizations
- Facilitate alignment between business and technology stakeholders across multiple initiatives
- Influence decision-making across complex organizational environments without direct authority
Governance & Standards
- Establish and maintain business architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices
- Ensure traceability from strategy through execution, including capabilities, initiatives, and outcomes
- Promote consistency in business architecture methodologies and deliverables
Cross-Architecture Collaboration
- Partner with Enterprise, Solution, Data, and Domain Architects to align business and technology strategies
- Ensure business intent is accurately reflected in enterprise solutions and technology decisions
- Contribute to enterprise-wide architecture governance and planning activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
(Master s degree preferred) - 10+ years of experience in Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Strategy, Consulting, or Transformation roles
- Demonstrated experience developing business architecture artifacts including:
- Capability maps
- Value stream maps
- Operating models
- Transformation roadmaps
- Strong business and technology acumen with the ability to connect strategy to execution
- Experience working within large, complex enterprise organizations
- Financial services industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment across business and technology organizations
Certifications
- Certified Business Architect (CBA ) Business Architecture Guild
- TOGAF or equivalent Enterprise Architecture certification

Additional Information
- Remote candidates will be considered
- Travel to Buffalo, NY required every 4 6 weeks
- Eastern or Central Time Zone candidates preferred
- Financial services background strongly preferred
