Epic Beacon Clinical Informaticist (Epic Beacon Treatment Plans and Epic Beacon Support/ Workflow Development)

Position Summary
The Epic Beacon Clinical Informaticist serves as a liaison between clinicians, clinical operations, and technology teams to optimize the use of Epic and other clinical applications. This role provides frontline support for providers and clinical staff, delivers training and personalization services, and promotes effective use of clinical information systems to enhance patient care, patient safety, clinical productivity, and provider satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will possess strong Epic expertise, experience supporting providers in an outpatient hospital setting, and the ability to educate and support clinical end users. This position requires a highly visible presence within the cancer center, working directly with physicians, nurses, and operational leaders to improve workflows, system adoption, and overall user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Timely development and maintenance of Epic Beacon treatment plans.
Routine review of all oncology treatment plans to ensure alignment with current NCCN Guidelines and institutional standards.
Standardization of regimens across the health system to reduce variation in care.
Collaboration with oncologists, pharmacists, nursing, and informatics teams during treatment plan development and optimization.
Improved quality assurance through structured review, testing, and validation before implementation.
Reduced provider burden and fewer order corrections.
Improved patient safety through consistent use of evidence-based treatment plans.
Enhanced regulatory readiness and compliance with accreditation standards.
Submitting tickets for building new Beacon treatment plans.
Ongoing maintenance and optimization of existing plans.
Regular review and updates based on NCCN Guideline revisions and emerging evidence.
Governance of treatment plan standardization across the oncology service line.
Partnership with oncology physicians, pharmacists, nursing leadership, and IT to prioritize treatment plan requests and ensure timely implementation.
Development of quality metrics to monitor treatment plan accuracy, turnaround times, and compliance with evidence-based standards.
Provide onsite clinical informatics support for physicians, nurses, and clinical staff.
Serve as a subject matter expert for Epic Beacon, workflows, and provider-facing functionality.
Lead provider onboarding, personalization, and customization sessions for new providers.
Support providers with Epic navigation, order entry, favorites management, and workflow optimization.
Conduct rounding in the cancer center to proactively identify and resolve workflow and technology issues.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and operational leaders to evaluate current workflows and recommend process improvements.
Analyze clinical and organizational needs and translate requirements into system improvements and workflow enhancements.
Lead basic to moderately complex clinical informatics projects and initiatives.
Support implementation, testing, validation, and optimization of clinical applications and technology solutions.
Develop training materials and deliver end-user education for providers and clinical staff.
Participate in scenario creation, test script development, user acceptance testing (UAT), and system validation activities.
Ensure compliance with information systems policies, healthcare regulations, and organizational standards.
Support provider badge authentication and access management processes, including Imprivata enrollment and administration.
Resolve complex issues related to EHR functionality, workflow integration, provider adoption, and clinical operations.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, provider satisfaction, and patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
1-2+ years Oncology Clinical Informatics experience.
Illinois Registered Nurse License Required with 2+ years of Oncology RN experience.
Epic Beacon Certification.
Experience with Epic Beacon Treatment Plans.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Hands-on experience supporting Epic Beacon applications in an outpatient environment.
Experience providing physician/provider support, onboarding, personalization, and training.
Strong knowledge of Epic Beacon provider workflows, order entry, and clinical documentation processes.
Experience navigating Epic Beacon and understanding clinical data and clinical workflows.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong Epic Beacon Clinical Informatics professional with recent provider support experience.
Experienced in provider personalization, onboarding, and training.
Comfortable working directly with physicians, nurses, and clinical leadership.
Knowledgeable in inpatient clinical workflows and EHR optimization.
Able to round on units, troubleshoot issues, and serve as the go-to onsite clinical technology resource.
Combines healthcare operations knowledge with hands-on Cerner application support expertise.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $69.00/hr.
