Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer (Database & Backend) to own and optimize our data layer. This is a hands-on, deep technical role focused on PostgreSQL performance, schema design, and zero-downtime database operations in a high-scale AI-powered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the data layer for a platform handling millions of AI generation jobs monthly
• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL schemas using Prisma ORM
• Write and review zero-downtime database migrations (idempotent DDL, safe rollbacks)
• Analyze and optimize slow queries using tools like EXPLAIN ANALYZE
• Ensure data integrity through constraints, triggers, audit trails, and soft deletes
• Support complex queries for reporting, dashboards, and analytics
• Implement scaling strategies including partitioning, read replicas, and connection pooling
• Collaborate with engineering teams on backend and data-related challenges

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, DBA, or Backend Engineer
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with SQL
• 3+ years of experience with Prisma ORM (or similar ORM tools)
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL (indexing, partitioning, JSONB, CTEs, window functions)
• Experience with query optimization and performance tuning
• Knowledge of connection pooling tools like PgBouncer
• Experience with zero-downtime database migrations in production
• Understanding of role-based database access control

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with Redis data modeling
• Knowledge of time-series data and full-text search (pg_trgm)
• Familiarity with PostGIS
• Experience working with high-scale systems
