Summary

QA / Software Tester — Utility Software Implementation

Contract (W2) · 6–12 months · Sacramento, California · Hybrid, 1–3 days on-site · Immediate start

Accent Gold Solutions is looking for an experienced software tester to join the test team on an enterprise implementation for a large public power utility in the Sacramento area.

You would be joining at the sharp end. The program is roughly three quarters of the way through delivery, which means the work ahead is the work that decides whether this goes live cleanly: regression, integration, data validation, and supporting the client’s own testers through user acceptance. There is no ramp-up period where nothing is at stake.

There is also runway beyond it. A follow-on program with the same client is anticipated, so the right person has a path well past go-live.

This is a hands-on execution role reporting to the QA/QC Testing Lead and the project manager. You are not managing the test function — you are testing, and doing it well enough that defects get fixed the first time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Write and execute test cases from requirements and design documents, across functional, integration and regression testing
  • Log defects properly. Record them with enough detail that a developer can reproduce the problem without a follow-up conversation
  • Retest fixes and keep the regression suite current as new builds arrive
  • Validate data with SQL — migration results, integration payloads, calculated incentive and savings values — against both source and target
  • Support client user acceptance testing: prepare test data, walk client testers through scenarios, and capture their findings accurately
  • Keep traceability current so the Testing Lead can report coverage without chasing you for it

REQUIRED

  • Solid hands-on experience testing enterprise software, with real ownership of test execution rather than running someone else’s scripts
  • Based in the Sacramento area and able to work on-site at the client’s offices 1–3 days per week
  • Experience writing test cases from written requirements, not from a handed-down script
  • Working SQL. You can query a database to confirm what the application is telling you, and you do it as a matter of habit
  • Experience with a defect tracking and test management tool such as Azure DevOps, Jira or qTest
  • Precise written communication. A utility client reads your defect reports
  • Comfortable joining a project already in motion and being useful inside the first week
  • Authorized to work in the United States

STRONGLY PREFERRED

  • Experience testing Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform or Dataverse applications. This is the platform the program is built on, and it is the most useful experience you can bring.

ALSO VALUABLE

In roughly this order:

  • Data migration testing and validation
  • API and integration testing (Postman, ReadyAPI or similar)
  • Utility sector experience, particularly demand-side management or energy-efficiency programs
  • Test automation or scripting
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification

ABOUT ACCENT GOLD SOLUTIONS

Accent Gold Solutions builds and implements the software that runs energy-efficiency and demand-side management programs for regulated utilities across the United States. Our work sits where utility program design meets enterprise technology: program tracking systems, CRM and Dataverse implementations, data migration, and systems integration.

We are a small, senior team that works directly with client stakeholders, and the people we bring on are expected to operate at that level from the start.

ENGAGEMENT

This is a W2 contract engagement on an Accent Gold client program, running approximately six to twelve months. The initial phase carries through go-live and stabilization, with a follow-on program anticipated thereafter.

Rate and engagement terms are discussed with shortlisted candidates. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Accent Gold Solutions does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
