Position Overview
The Master Schedule / Demand Management Developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the digital solutions that support Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Demand Planning across complex aerospace and defense programs. This role sits at the intersection of Supply Chain, Operations, and IT, translating business forecasting and capacity requirements into robust, automated planning tools and integrations (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP IBP, SAP APO, or equivalent planning systems).
You will work closely with Master Schedulers, Demand Managers, Program Management, and Manufacturing Operations to ensure that demand signals, production plans, and material requirements are accurately modeled, systemized, and visible across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Solution Design for MPS & Demand Planning
o Design and configure planning solutions that support Master Production Schedule (MPS) creation, maintenance, and execution aligned with customer demand, capacity, and inventory strategies.
o Build and maintain demand planning logic to manage forecast datasets, demand signals, and long-range planning horizons for programs and product lines.
· Systems Development & Integration
o Develop and maintain interfaces and data models between ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP IBP, SAP APO) and operational planning tools to support real-time production scheduling.
o Implement automation and workflow enhancements for demand planning, MPS creation, material requirements planning (MRP), and scenario/“what-if” analysis.
· Demand Management & Forecasting Support
o Support Demand Managers and Master Schedulers by modeling customer demand, backlog, and forecast changes in the system to ensure accurate planning inputs.
o Develop logic for demand segmentation (firm orders, high-confidence opportunities, upside demand, at-risk programs) and translate into executable supply and production plans.
· Master Schedule / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) Enablement
o Develop tools and reporting that help Master Schedulers manage Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and production schedules across multiple programs, including capacity and material constraints.
o Support schedule risk analysis, highlighting potential schedule slips, material shortages, or capacity bottlenecks through data-driven analytics.
· Analytics, KPIs, and Dashboards
o Build and maintain dashboards and KPIs to provide visibility into schedule health, on-time delivery, past-due revenue, schedule adherence, and demand/supply alignment.
o Enable scenario planning tools to evaluate the impact of engineering changes, demand volatility, and supply disruptions on the master schedule.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, and Customer Service to ensure planning solutions meet business and contractual requirements.
o Act as a technical focal point for planning-related system issues, enhancements, and continuous improvement projects.
Required Qualifications & Skills
· Technical Skills
o Experience developing or configuring solutions in SAP S/4HANA, SAP IBP, SAP APO, or equivalent ERP/MRP planning platforms (e.g., demand planning, MPS, MRP modules).
o Strong proficiency in data modeling, integration (APIs, IDocs, ETL), and reporting/analytics tools used to support demand planning and scheduling.
o Ability to build scenario-planning and “what-if” tools for capacity, materials, and demand changes.
· Functional / Domain Knowledge
o 5+ years of experience in Master Scheduling, Demand Planning, or Production Planning in a manufacturing environment, ideally Aerospace & Defense or complex engineered products.
o Solid understanding of MPS, MRP, S&OP/SIOP, capacity planning, and inventory management concepts.
o Experience supporting or working with Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for development or production programs.
· Soft Skills
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with large datasets and complex program structures.
o Excellent communication skills to translate planning/business requirements into technical solutions and to communicate schedule and demand insights to stakeholders.
o Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, change-driven environment with multiple programs and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) for demand and supply or SAP S/4HANA embedded PP/DS.
· Background in Aerospace & Defense, including familiarity with long-lead items, program-based planning, and government/defense contract structures.
· Experience using advanced scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) to interface IMS with ERP/MRP environments.
· Experience implementing S&OP/SIOP process automation and dashboards.
