Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Data Consultant to partner with an enterprise insurance client and drive large-scale data migration and transformation initiatives.

This is not a backend delivery role it is a high-impact, client-facing consulting role where you will:

Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders

Lead strategy discussions and solutioning workshops

Drive data migration decisions and execution

The ideal candidate combines strong data engineering expertise with consulting mindset, and has experience leading client conversations, influencing decisions, and delivering complex data programs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement (Core Focus)

Serve as the primary data consultant for the client, partnering with business and technology stakeholders.

Lead workshops, discovery sessions, and solution discussions on data migration strategy.

Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and migration plans.

Proactively advise clients on risks, trade-offs, and best practices.

Drive alignment across stakeholders and ensure decision-making clarity.

2. Data Migration Strategy & Execution

Define and lead end-to-end migration strategy from legacy systems to modern cloud platforms.

Establish migration approaches (phased, parallel, re-platforming, transformation).

Drive execution with focus on accuracy, timeline, and minimal business disruption.

Define frameworks for data validation, reconciliation, and cutover planning.

3. AI-Driven Migration Acceleration

Identify and implement opportunities to leverage AI/GenAI to accelerate migration, such as:

Automated schema mapping and transformation

Data quality assessment and anomaly detection

Test automation and reconciliation

Bring innovative approaches to reduce migration timelines and effort.

4. Data Engineering & Solutioning

Design scalable data pipelines and migration architectures using:

Python, SQL, ETL frameworks

Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, etc.)

Ensure solutions are efficient, scalable, and production-ready.

Provide hands-on guidance to engineering teams.

5. Governance, Quality & Compliance

Establish frameworks for data quality, lineage, and governance.

Ensure migration meets regulatory and compliance standards relevant to insurance.

Drive audit-ready migration processes.

6. Leadership & Delivery Oversight

Lead cross-functional teams across data engineering, QA, and business units.

Manage delivery risks, priorities, and timelines.

Mentor team members and ensure high-quality execution.

Required Skills & Experience

Consulting & Client-Facing Experience (Mandatory)

Proven experience in client-facing roles, directly interacting with enterprise stakeholders

Strong ability to lead discussions, influence decisions, and drive consensus

Experience conducting workshops, solutioning sessions, and executive presentations

Demonstrated ability to bridge business and technical conversations

Candidates with primarily backend or delivery-only experience without direct client engagement will not be a fit.

Data Migration & Engineering Expertise

Extensive experience in large-scale data migration programs

Strong proficiency in:

Python, SQL

ETL/ELT frameworks

Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred):

BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage

Deep understanding of:

Data modeling

Data validation & reconciliation

Distributed data processing

AI & Innovation Mindset

Experience or strong understanding of AI/GenAI applications in data engineering or migration

Ability to identify automation opportunities and drive innovation

Domain Experience (Preferred)

Experience in Insurance domain:

Policy, claims, underwriting, billing systems

Understanding of domain-specific data challenges

Leadership & Ownership

Proven ability to lead complex programs with multiple stakeholders

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
