Role Overview

A Junior Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats across systems and networks. This role involves protecting organizational data, identifying vulnerabilities, and supporting security operations to ensure a secure IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor security alerts and events using Security Information and Event Management tools
Analyze logs and investigate potential security incidents
Assist in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities
Support incident response activities and threat containment
Conduct basic vulnerability assessments and security scans
Maintain and update security policies, procedures, and documentation
Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to implement security measures
Assist in managing firewalls, antivirus, and endpoint protection systems
Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends

Required Skills

Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts
Knowledge of network security fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS)
Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows)
Understanding of security tools (SIEM, antivirus, endpoint protection)
Basic knowledge of threat detection and incident response
Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
Problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Skills

Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, IBM QRadar, Azure Sentinel)
Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, OpenVAS)
