Overview:
The Senior Automation Engineer provides technical leadership in the design, development, and support of a highly available, scalable, and secure automation platform. This role is responsible for developing new features, optimizing system performance, and resolving complex technical issues while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment, works independently with minimal oversight, and brings a strong hybrid background in software development and systems administration to drive platform reliability and continuous improvement.

Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

Compensation:
Salary at DSS Inc is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000.00 to $160,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Juno Health's total compensation package for employees.

The Senior Automation Engineer will:
- Provides technical leadership to more junior engineers ensuring that the platform is highly available, scalable, and secure.
- Is responsible for developing features, improving the platform's performance, and providing technical support to other teams.
- Is highly motivated and capable of working independently in a rapidly evolving technical environment.
- Has a hybrid developer/system administration background.
- Define and execute a vision for modernizing our products and keeping our platform(s) highly available and efficient
- Work closely with development and QA teams to understand and exploit opportunities to advance technical practices that allow us to reach engineering goals faster
- Design, develop and support solutions which facilitate ease of service deployment, availability and operations
- Own and define Automation best practices and guide the deployment with a practical set of playbooks and templates
- Help the team mature automated deployment and container utilization strategies
- Develop and maintain custom built applications used to provide integrations
- Work with our Network Operations, Development and Technical Services teams to develop a practical cloud deployment strategy
- Provide objective insight to development team for driving down escalations, team efficiencies, and product uptime
- On call 24/7

Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to pass a Federal background check
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Required Skills
- Strong Ansible experience, including custom role and library development, solid understanding of data structures, complex conditionals, loops, jinja2 templating, handlers, advanced error handling, debugging, Ansible Automation Platform and AWX.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with containerization and related technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
- Experience with administering / monitoring infrastructure on bare metal, private/public cloud or hybrids (AWS, Azure, Open Stack, VM's, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills that can drive conversations in cross-team efforts towards consensus and action
- Strong communication skills, with ability to cater discussions to all levels in organization (individual contributors, team leads, manager, director, VP)
- Understanding of Web development technologies
- Can work autonomously with minimal direction
