Role Overview
This role functions as a member of an enterprise network application layer intrusion, detection, prevention, and response team. The analyst will develop and implement custom alerts and monitoring controls to detect and mitigate threats, provide leadership in assessing new threat vectors, and design effective controls. This position involves leveraging advanced investigative skills with data correlation and log analysis tools and partnering with business leaders to triage security events.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement custom alerts and monitoring controls to detect and mitigate threats.
- Assess new threat vectors and design and implement effective controls.
- Leverage advanced investigative skills using data correlation and log analysis tools.
- Partner with senior leaders from lines of business to triage security events and report on impacting security initiatives.
- Develop and implement processes or controls in support of audit and risk requirements.
- Use new intelligence to update existing controls to detect new threats.
- Operate independently and support others within the security team.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with Web Applications.
- Strong background in Intrusion Analysis, with the ability to identify and interpret web and application logs from a security perspective.
- Strong Splunk skill set to analyze logs and other security events, including creating macros, alerts, and dashboards.
- Knowledge of current exploits and ability to identify them from web and event logs.
- Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, and MacOS operating systems.
- Comfortable with scripting languages and regular expressions.
- Strong knowledge of common network protocols.
- Working knowledge of enterprise Client/Server architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to interpret Apache web logs, IIS, Active Directory, and other security logs.
- Full understanding of modern web site deployments and technology.
- Familiarity with web application attacks including SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and remote file inclusion.
- Understanding of stateful firewalls and ability to interpret firewall rules.
- Experience using tools to detect anomalous or malicious data transmissions on the network.
- Experience with advanced analytics or security tools to detect anomalous events on the network.
Work Environment
This is a front-line team that handles active security events and current threats. On-call and after-hours work can be expected on a rotational basis. The work schedule requires being onsite for a minimum of four days per week.
For this position, the pay rate is $88.00/hr to $93.10/hr.
