Developer - Front-end GIS

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Front-End GIS Developer to support the design and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern front-end applications using Angular (14 or higher)

• Build responsive UI components using Material Design and Bootstrap (optional)

• Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and GIS services

• Develop and enhance geospatial mapping features using Esri ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript

• Support enterprise-level reporting integrations using Power BI

• Work with spatial databases including PostGIS and PostgreSQL

• Develop and maintain geocoding and geoprocessing services

• Ensure applications meet digital accessibility compliance standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, ADA)

• Write unit tests using Jasmine/Karma and support back-end testing with JUnit

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Git/Azure Repos

Required Qualifications

Front-End Development

• 8+ years of experience in UI development

• Strong expertise in Angular (v14+)

• Experience with responsive, mobile-first development

• Familiarity with Material Design libraries (Bootstrap a plus)

GIS & Esri Platform Expertise

• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Maps API/SDK for JavaScript

• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise Server and ArcGIS Online (AGOL)

• Knowledge of Esri tools such as:

  • ArcPro / ArcObjects

  • GeoEvent Processor, Velocity

  • Experience Builder, Survey123, Field Maps

• Experience building geocoding and geoprocessing services

• Knowledge of ArcSDE versioning (branch/state tree workflows)

• Familiarity with linear referencing systems and Roads & Highways

Back-End & Integration

• Strong experience integrating with RESTful APIs

• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot environments

Data & Reporting

• Experience with Power BI dashboards and reporting integrations

• Strong database skills with PostGIS/PostgreSQL

Testing Tools

• Front-end testing with Jasmine and Karma

• Back-end testing exposure with JUnit

Accessibility Requirements

• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and disability inclusion

• Experience meeting compliance standards:

  • WCAG 2.1 AA

  • Section 508

  • ADA

• Familiarity with WAI-ARIA guidelines and accessible design patterns

• Preferred: Accessibility testing included in the development lifecycle
