RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a highly technical Autonomy/Navigation Engineer to support a newly awarded government contract focused on advanced aerial autonomy. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire role in Salt Lake City, UT for an individual contributor who can make an immediate impact in autonomy, navigation, and GPS-denied environments.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Master's degree is a must have
* Minimum: ~2+ years of relevant professional experience
* Experience in C++
* Experience doing censor fusion and fairly specialized areas
* Experience with UAD
* Experience in Autonomous navigation and planning
Technical Stack & Core Requirements:
* C++ proficiency is critical (currently C++14-17)
* Strong understanding of both algorithms and production-level implementation
* Autonomous navigation for aerial vehicles
* Operation in GPS-denied environments
* Multi-sensor fusion & state estimation
* SLAM and localization techniques
* Autonomous path planning & obstacle avoidance
* Strong signal processing background
* UAV/aerial systems experience
Specialized Experience Areas (Highly Valued):
* Real-world sensor fusion implementation (not just academic exposure)
Working with sensors such as:
* IMU
* LiDAR
* Radar
* Cameras
SLAM approaches including:
* LiDAR SLAM
* Visual-Inertial Odometry
* Radio Tomography
* Deep understanding of the physics of sensors
* Autonomous navigation, planning, and decision-making systems
* Prior experience with UAV or aerial autonomy platforms strongly preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
