RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has an enterprise technology client in Spring, TX seeking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their benchmark and competitive analysis team. The Mechanical Engineer in this role will work independently and cross functionally with internal teams and colleagues to critically analyze and characterize computer components ranging from but not limited to quantity, size, material composition, mechanical characteristics, thermal dynamics, and design.
Responsibilities:
* Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on mechanical design and development
* Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; Provides tangible feedback to improve product quality
* Provides domain-specific expertise and overall mechanical/thermal leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities
* Determine entire mechanical and thermal BOM assembly list of a PC; This includes, but is not limited to laptops, desktops and docks
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Typically, 4-6 years of experience
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Experience in mechanical and thermal architecture of electronics packaging design
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
* Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design specifications and negotiate options at senior management levels
* Identify and evaluate the properties of various polymers, alloys, and composites used in consumer electronics to determine their impact on weight, cost, and durability
* Advanced understanding of the mechanical and thermal constraints specific to laptops and desktops, including hinge kinematics, chassis rigidity, and high-density component packaging
* Able to identify specific production processes - such as CNC machining, die casting, sheet metal processing, injection molding, thixomolding - just by inspecting a finished part and can estimate the associated tooling costs
* Proven ability to deconstruct complex assemblies and reconstruct the design intent, manufacturing sequence, and assembly logic
* Proficient in using specialized equipment such as 3D scanning microscope, and X-ray/CT scanning for non-destructive internal analysis.
* Ability to perform Value Analysis/Value Engineering to determine whether a finished product has optimized for cost without sacrificing perceived quality
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
