Location/DivisionThe Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy (M&SA EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. The M&SA EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.
How will you make an impact?The Field Service Engineer III for the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific performs on-site installation, alignment and repair of sophisticated equipment and systems. Engineers validate operational quality of system equipment; advise customers in the operation and maintenance of the system; serve as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects; and conduct on-site installations of analytical instruments serving the electronics research and manufacturing industries.
The Field Service Engineer III will join a diverse team with skills ranging from sophisticated computer networks, precision mechanics, high voltage electronics, vacuum theory, particle beams, optics, and chemistry.

What you will do:- Conduct on-site installations across the region
- Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits per commitments and schedule
- Provide troubleshooting and repair support for customers and other field service personnel
- Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with users and colleagues
- Complete technical training, as required
- Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems
- Advise external customers, manufacturing and internal customers thru effective communication
- Partner with colleagues as mentee and mentor to continue personal and team development
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for Service, documentation, and product factories
- Collaborate with application scientists, technical support engineers, and customers to resolve complex customer challenges
Minimum Education & Experience:- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of technical education and experience on sophisticated systems, or equivalent military experience
- 1+ years' experience using SEM, TEM, FIB, Circuit Analysis, or similar systems
- Ability to partner effectively with customers
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; must have a professional working proficiency in English
- High level of proficiency on Windows software, network knowledge, current computer hardware
- Must have ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to secure entrance to US Government laboratories and facilities, if required
