Role Summary
The Intersect Group is seeking a Senior AI Context & Governance Architect to design and implement core architectural frameworks that enable scalable, efficient, and responsible AI across the enterprise. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and applied AI, with a strong focus on context engineering, orchestration, and governance.
You will play a critical role in defining how AI systems receive, manage, and optimize context at scale while building the underlying systems that ensure performance, maintainability, and compliance. This position requires a highly technical, hands-on architect who thrives in ambiguous environments and enjoys building foundational systems from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable AI context architecture frameworks for enterprise AI platforms and agent-based systems.
• Build modular, reusable context structures, intent specifications, and orchestration patterns.
• Develop systems focused on context optimization, token efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Establish governance frameworks, validation processes, and quality standards for AI workflows and adoption.
• Collaborate with platform engineering, security, and AI teams to define enterprise-wide architecture standards.
• Contribute to backend orchestration, middleware, caching, and intelligent context delivery systems.
• Optimize APIs and integrations to improve performance and reduce unnecessary compute and token usage.
• Support large-scale AI platform initiatives with a focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Operate effectively in fast-moving, evolving environments—helping define solutions where requirements are not yet fully formed.

Key Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, backend engineering, or distributed systems architecture.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred), Kubernetes, and microservices-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing AI context systems, including prompt/context engineering and token optimization strategies.
• Experience building scalable APIs, orchestration layers, and distributed backend systems.
• Proven experience developing governance frameworks, validation processes, and operational standards for technical systems.
• Strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to design for scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Experience working in greenfield or rapidly evolving environments with ambiguous requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, security, and architecture teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI/ML platforms such as Vertex AI, Gemini, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with AI middleware, agent orchestration, model gateways, and observability tooling.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) in production environments.
• Exposure to responsible AI practices and enterprise AI governance models.
• Experience building AI agents, intelligent caching systems, or context retrieval frameworks.
