Summary

Role Summary
This role involves designing, developing, and integrating web application firewall policies, primarily utilizing F5 Application Security Manager and related platforms. The engineer will collaborate closely with development and application teams to enforce security and traffic management configurations. Serving as a key member of an agile network load balancer team, the position demands expertise in supporting enterprise-level web application security solutions and load balancing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain F5 Application Security Manager (ASM) web application firewall policies and iRules.
  • Collaborate with developers and application teams to implement and optimize web application firewall configurations and traffic management settings.
  • Partner with information security and network engineers to enforce perimeter security controls using web application firewalls.
  • Support the deployment and configuration of F5 Local Traffic Manager, Global Traffic Manager, and Akamai Edge Services platforms.
  • Create and manage virtual servers, pools, pool members, certificates, SSL profiles, and wide IP configurations.
  • Perform packet capture analysis to troubleshoot application-layer connectivity and security issues.
  • Provide technical and architectural guidance for web application firewall and load balancer solutions across enterprise environments.
  • Support development teams, partners, and stakeholders requiring F5 and Akamai technology services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and network connectivity issues related to load balancer and security configurations.
  • Maintain documentation and procedures related to F5 ASM policies and network infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience supporting multiple network load balancer platforms, including F5 Local Traffic Manager, Application Security Manager, Global Traffic Manager, and Akamai Edge Services.
  • Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, configuring, and troubleshooting F5 and Akamai platforms.
  • Strong expertise in application-layer troubleshooting, packet analysis, and security best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and support secure web application firewall solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting F5 iRules preferred.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based load balancer solutions, particularly Azure, is advantageous.
  • F5 Application Security Manager certification is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within an agile team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support cross-functional stakeholders.

Publishing Pay Range: $52.56 - $54.14 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
