Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer with substantial automation expertise to support a large-scale infrastructure modernization initiative. This role is pivotal in enhancing network stability, remediating vulnerabilities, and enabling new AI-driven projects by upgrading end-of-life network equipment. The position requires a candidate who is a network engineer first, with a strong capability in automation, to design, build, and automate our global network infrastructure. The work will involve approximately 60% automation and 40% network engineering and design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on Layer 2/Layer 3 switching technologies and wireless controllers.
- Develop and implement network automation solutions for provisioning, configuration management, and troubleshooting.
- Automate routine network operations using scripting and orchestration tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Drive the planning, design, and architecture of a complex global data network and IT data center infrastructure solutions.
- Manage and optimize network performance, availability, and security across data center and campus environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network integration and deployment efforts, including API integrations with systems like CMDB.
- Troubleshoot complex issues that arise during provisioning, deployment, or refresh activities.
- Create and maintain updated network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical support to internal teams on complex integration issues.
- Participate in change management processes and navigate organizational governance to implement solutions.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 5+ years of network engineering experience, with a strong preference for candidates with a deep, hands-on infrastructure background.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise network environments, including data centers, campus networks, and remote sites.
- Experience with large-scale network refresh or modernization projects, such as data center buildouts or automated device migrations.
- Hands-on experience with network automation tools and frameworks.
Technical Skills:- CCNP-level knowledge is required. A CCNP certification is preferred, though a CCNA with extensive practical experience may be considered.
- Strong expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 switching (VLANs, VRRP, MC-LAG, STP, OSPF, BGP) and network design.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting with Python, Ansible, or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of REST APIs for integrating infrastructure platforms and automating workflows.
- Familiarity with major networking platforms (e.g., Dell, Cisco, Arista, Juniper).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security fundamentals.
Education:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with spec-driven development (SDD) or using AI-assisted tools to accelerate automation work.
- Experience navigating change control processes and governance-heavy environments in a large enterprise.
