Summary

Role : Quality Engineering Lead (Test Lead)

Location: Memphis, TN (Hybrid)
Duration: 9+ Months Contract (Extendable)

Important Note (Client Feedback):

Candidates must have recent Lead/Architect-level experience
Should have hands-on expertise in building test automation architecture from scratch
Profiles with primarily individual contributor experience will not be considered

Key Responsibilities:

Define and drive test automation strategy & roadmap
Lead test design activities (test scenarios, cases, coverage across UI/API/integration)
Own test planning: scope, estimation, sprint/release planning, automation backlog
Oversee manual & automated test execution ensuring stability and repeatability
Design and maintain scalable automation frameworks (data-driven, keyword-driven, hybrid)
Implement automation using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Rest Assured
Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
Review code, enforce standards, and drive framework governance
Publish test reports & quality metrics (coverage, defect leakage, trends)
Provide test status, risk, and quality insights to stakeholders
Collaborate with Dev, Product, DevOps teams in Agile environments
Mentor team members and drive automation best practices
Promote continuous improvement in testing processes
Support non-functional testing awareness (performance, security, reliability)

Must Have Skills:

Strong experience in Test Automation (Selenium / LeanFT / BDD Cucumber)
Hands-on experience with API Testing (Rest Assured, Postman, Karate)
Strong Java coding for automation framework development
Experience testing across:
- Frontend
- Backend
- Database
- Legacy systems (Mainframe / AS400 / iSeries)
Proven expertise in building automation frameworks from scratch (Architecture level)

Nice to Have:

CI/CD integration with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps
Exposure to LLM/AI tools (Copilot, Claude, Gemini) for test automation
ISTQB / Advanced Automation Certifications

Target Candidate Profile:

Lead/Architect mindset with ownership experience
Strong in framework design + team mentoring
Ability to drive end-to-end QA strategy, not just execution
