Senior Data Governance & Data Quality Specialist (Microsoft Purview | Investment Management)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Governance & Data Quality Specialist with deep, handson expertise in Microsoft Purview to support a complex Investment / Asset Management environment. This is a clientfacing, deliveryoriented role focused on assessing, structuring, and optimizing an existing Purview implementation while guiding business and technical stakeholders on best practices.
This role is not a strategyonly or advisory position. The ideal candidate is an experienced practitioner who can work directly with stakeholders, understand currentstate data governance in Purview, and immediately contribute through handson configuration, guidance, and standardization.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft Purview (HandsOn)
Serve as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Purview in a production environment
Assess and optimize an existing Purview implementation, including:
Data Map
Data Catalog
Scanning
Lineage
Classification
Glossary
Configure metadata standards, data structuring approaches, and classification models
Provide handson guidance on organizing and standardizing data assets within Purview
Support the creation of Purview views and dashboards to improve data visibility and usability
Data Governance & Data Quality Enablement
Work with stakeholders to understand current data governance practices and how they are implemented in Purview
Help define and implement foundational governance standards across data domains
Support the definition of data quality rules and approaches for surfacing quality insights through Purview (phased, as tooling allows)
Assist in standardizing governance practices across multiple business units or affiliates
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
Engage directly with business and technical stakeholders from day one
Facilitate discussions to understand data usage, ownership, and governance needs
Translate technical Purview capabilities into practical guidance for business users
Act as a trusted handson advisor embedded with the client
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
Expertlevel, handson experience with Microsoft Purview in a production environment
Demonstrated ability to work within an existing Purview implementation and improve structure, usability, and governance outcomes
Experience in Investment Management or Asset Management environments
Strong understanding of investment data domains such as:
Portfolio and asset data
Positions
Transactions
Reference or master data
Background in data engineering, data architecture, analytics platforms, or data governance delivery
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with business and technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Experience working in large, complex, or multiaffiliate organizations
Familiarity with AWS environments and Azure Fabric
Experience defining or implementing data quality rules and metrics
Exposure to other data catalog or governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica)
Prior consulting or clientfacing delivery experience
Additional Information
This role is handson and executionfocused, with governance strategy and longterm roadmapping as secondary considerations
Scope will evolve over time; initial focus is on assessment, guidance, and foundational standardization
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
