The Sr. Planner Scheduler is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and tracking all preventive and corrective maintenance and calibration activities within the laboratory facilities. This role serves as the primary liaison between internal laboratory operations and external vendors, ensuring maintenance is performed efficiently while minimizing operational downtime. The position also includes limited help desk ticket management related to maintenance work orders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning/Scheduling
Perform the duties of Help Desk Administrator/Planner/Scheduler including front line interaction with departmental customers via phone, email, intranet or face to face. Respond to customer inquiries by entering work requests into TMS, gathering information about the services needed and/or provide the requested information.
Assign corrective and preventive maintenance work orders to the appropriate staff and/or contracted resources in TMS.
Work with supervisors to plan/schedule the activities of maintenance and contracted technicians related to current backlog.
Coordinate material lead time with material controller to ensure that parts are available for scheduled work.
Works closely with internal clients in creating efficient processes of performing maintenance activities.
Works closely with internal clients and project management in design of equipment and facility upgrades.
Lead departmental efforts in the Process Excellence program by identifying processes for planning/scheduling and ensure implementation.
Perform computerized maintenance management system administrative activities including documentation of assets and their attributes to insure proper classification, management of work orders - including preventive and corrective maintenance processes.
Back up for Planner/Scheduler in other shops.
Identification of equipment maintenance being performed internally or externally.
Organize and coordinate the execution of external contracts for scheduled maintenance actions.
Leads in development of creating processes for cross site activities.
Leads in development of vendor performed maintenance process.
Monitoring of labor and material resources for future growth and cost savings.
Assignment of priority work orders.
Ensure maintenance does not impact scientific studies.
Work closely with supervision in managing backlog.
Data Collection and Reporting
Collect, sort, assemble, and present data/information from established and non-established sources for standard reports. Create special reports as needs are demonstrated by supervisory staff.
Provide continual feedback to supervision on crafts performance.
Lead or co-lead in meetings as required i.e. Instrument Coordinator, project, shutdown, etc.
Serves as backup supervisor for technical responsibilities of Facilities and Metrology shops
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
5 years of related experience and/or 1-3 years of work/planner experience.
Advanced level of the planning/scheduling process
Ability to effectively use PC software including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access.
Advanced level of using computerized maintenance management software preferred.
Mentor in the effective use of TMS Enterprise.
Lead in a maintenance help desk environment and with work planning/scheduling.
Knowledge of facility or scientific maintenance environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
