Position Summary
Support the Unemployment Insurance Service Improvement (UISIM) project to redesign, modernize, enhance, and maintain the NYS Department of Labor''s integrated UI systems. Work as part of an agile team providing technical support, feature delivery, defect resolution, and knowledge transfer.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend: Design and develop accessible UI screens, reusable components, and application frameworks using Angular (with strict ADA/WCAG compliance).
- Backend: Build and integrate backend services, batch jobs, and business processes using Java / J2EE, Spring Boot, and microservices patterns.
- Services & Databases: Create/maintain REST & SOAP web services. Write complex SQL queries and data-access components for DB2 using ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
- DevOps & QA: Utilize GitHub/GitLab and CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments. Conduct unit, integration, and performance testing.
- Design & Mentorship: Document existing application design/technical debt and mentor State staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Java/Spring Boot: 60+ months developing multi-tier web applications using J2EE or Spring Boot in an agile environment.
- Angular & Accessibility: 48+ months developing Angular UIs and accessible web applications meeting ADA/WCAG standards.
- Web Services: 48+ months developing and integrating REST/SOAP services, backend services, and batch jobs.
- Database / SQL: 36+ months writing complex SQL queries and data access components (DB2, Hibernate, JPA).
- CI/CD & Source Control: 36+ months using GitHub/GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud Platform: 24+ months working with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) or another enterprise cloud platform.
- System Design: 24+ months analyzing/documenting application designs, system functionality, and technical debt.
Work Details
- Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 hrs/week).
- Interview Process: Webcasting (Camera On).
- Mandatory Requirements: Must sign a confidentiality agreement and complete NYS OER/UI mandatory training.
