Summary
Title: SAP Enterprise Architect
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite 4 days a week)
Duration: 12 months with possible extensions
Overview:
The SAP Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining and driving enterprise-wide architecture strategy and frameworks, with deep SAP expertise including configuration, data models, and integrations. This role also supports Corporate and IT4IT application architecture, ensuring cohesive alignment across applications, data, and infrastructure. The architect collaborates with business stakeholders, IT teams, and solution architects to deliver a unified, scalable, and forward looking architecture leveraging SAP as a core platform.
Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy with emphasis on SAP configuration, data models, and integrations.
- Oversee enterprise application and domain roadmaps for Corporate and IT4IT systems, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business needs into SAP based and enterprise wide technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain reference models, SAP data models, application architectures, and infrastructure strategies.
- Establish and enforce governance processes for applications, data, integrations, and architecture standards.
- Lead architectural reviews to ensure adherence to enterprise standards and best practices.
- Optimize technology landscape by reducing redundancies and enhancing SAP integrations and accessibility.
- Promote reuse of SAP components, integration patterns, and shared technical assets.
- Evaluate emerging technologies (SAP BTP, AI/ML, cloud native tooling, IT4IT platforms) and lead proof of concept efforts.
- Manage enterprise architecture tools such as SAP PowerDesigner, LeanIX, and iServer.
- Facilitate alignment among domain, platform, and solution architects.
- Lead the Architecture Community of Practice; foster collaboration and industry trend awareness.
- Develop and document enterprise architecture standards, SAP specific guidelines, and IT4IT best practices.
- Communicate strategic themes and architectural direction to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Manage application portfolios, including SAP upgrades, IT4IT enhancements, training needs, and platform evolution.
- Provide expert guidance in Architecture Review Boards, Technology Innovation Reviews, and Engineering forums.
- Influence common modeling, design, and coding practices across teams.
- Identify architectural improvement opportunities and lead roadmap updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of IT experience, with at least 7 years in enterprise architecture roles and 5+ years hands on SAP configuration, data modeling, and integrations.
- Expertise with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI, and SAP data models.
- Proven experience architecting enterprise roadmaps across Corporate and IT4IT applications.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture standards, governance, integrations, and SAP best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business, data, security, and infrastructure teams.
- Experience using EA tools (SAP PowerDesigner, LeanIX, iServer) and data governance tools (Collibra, Informatica).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and SAP cloud integrations.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, utility regulations).
- TOGAF certification required; SAP or IT4IT certifications highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, decision making, and communication skills.
- Experience in electric/gas utilities or regulated industries strongly preferred.
Desired but Not Mandatory:
- SAP certifications (SAP Certified Technology Associate, SAP S/4HANA).
- Experience with real time data processing or AI/ML in SAP environments.
- Knowledge of advanced analytics platforms and integrations with IT4IT systems.
