Summary

Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in related field or engineering or 3 to 5 years of telecommunication industry experience related to either inside or outside plant operations.
Required Experience:

  • Understanding of fiber optics/telecom
  • Knowledge of fiber industry standards
  • Documentation of fiber optics
  • Analytical interpretation of fiber data
  • Understand spec drawings of fiber optics
  • Strong OTDR tracing experience required.

Required Software:

  • MapInfo
  • AutoCAD (a plus but not required)
  • Visio
  • MS Office

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documents, edits, and modifies records of fiber optic network assets for both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) operations using fiber optic network software.

  • Performs research and analysis of network orders, diagrams, fiber optic routes, and customer databases to verify and validate customer fiber optic network asset records.

  • Evaluates fiber optic design issues by reviewing project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements.

  • Gathers, reviews, and interprets various data sources for comparison and validation of the fiber optic network.

  • Validates design drawings by identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems related to data entry in fiber optic network software.

  • Utilizes industry-related software, including MapInfo, AutoCAD (optional), Visio, Google Earth/Maps, and MS Office applications.

  • Researches and validates building addresses and coordinates using Google Earth/Maps to ensure accurate location placement and creates building footprints within fiber optic network software.

  • Demonstrates understanding of databases, queries, spreadsheets, and schematic drawings.

  • Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD is a plus but not required.

Job Summary:
Documents and manages fiber optic network assets for inside and outside plant network. Edits and modifies network data, studies project objectives, research and develops fiber optic network techniques and approaches; validating designs; supporting project implementation in a very detail working environment using fiber optic network industry software.
