What you'll doAs a SCADA/Telemetry Systems Engineer, you'll support the reliability and performance of telemetry infrastructure across National Grid's electric transmission and distribution systems. You'll focus on maintaining communication paths, troubleshooting telemetry issues, and supporting SCADA system health and compliance. Key responsibilities include the following:
- Provide day-to-day support for SCADA operations, responding to the needs of control room staff, field personnel, and other end users.
- Monitor and support SCADA applications and system performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality and consistency issues in near real-time.
- Maintain and update the SCADA database, including telemetry points, device attributes, and connectivity data.
- Support data mapping between EMS, DSCADA, and OMS environments.
- Design, configure, and maintain graphical displays for SCADA.
- Ensure accurate representation of field assets and network topology.
- Collaborate with operators to enhance display usability and situational awareness.
- Monitor and maintain telemetry paths between field devices and SCADA systems.
- Validate telemetry data and ensure accurate point mapping and alarming.
- Coordinate commissioning of RTUs, IEDs, and data concentrators.
- Support SCADA software patching, upgrades, and performance testing.
- Administer remote access interfaces including PI Historian and EMS Thin Client.
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with NERC/CIP standards.
- Troubleshoot communication issues (latency, data loss, protocol mismatches).
- Support protocols including DNP3, Modbus, RS485, TCP/IP, ICCP.
- Use tools like Wireshark, PuTTY, and VNC for diagnostics.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours support for SCADA systems.
About you- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Preferably 2+ years of SCADA telemetry or utility experience.
- Experience with SCADA platforms (GE, Hitachi, OSI), scripting (Python, SQL, Powershell), and network protocols.
- Familiarity with Windows/Linux OS, database management, and cybersecurity.
- Ability to work independently and effectively during on-call support situations.

$112,000 - $132,000 a year
