Job Location: Washington, DC (Remote with Quarterly Travel required for PI Planning at D.C. or Wilmington, DE)

JOB SUMMARY
Client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior FinOps Consultant to drive Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) and governance across a multi-cloud environment, primarily AWS and Microsoft Azure, with additional exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maximizing the value of cloud investments through cost optimization, financial accountability, resource utilization, and governance. This role will work closely with Development Teams, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Solutions, Finance, and Leadership teams to establish effective FinOps practices, improve financial visibility, and ensure efficient cloud spending across the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spending across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze cloud usage patterns, identify cost optimization opportunities, and improve overall resource utilization.
  • Investigate and respond to cloud cost anomalies, collaborating with Cloud Solutions and Application Teams to mitigate financial risks and prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and enforcement of cloud financial governance frameworks aligned with organizational standards and industry best practices.
  • Support cloud financial reporting processes, including cost allocation, showback/chargeback models, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve cloud asset management practices.
  • Provide expert guidance to stakeholders on cloud cost optimization, financial governance, and cloud management best practices.
  • Analyze complex cloud billing data and translate findings into actionable insights for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects and support multiple internal customers concurrently.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, FinOps methodologies, frameworks, and industry trends to continuously improve cloud financial operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) and cloud cost optimization within large enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud services, resources, pricing models, and associated usage costs.
  • Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and multi-cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud management and FinOps tools, preferably Apptio Cloudability.
  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, cost management strategies, and financial governance.
  • Knowledge of the FinOps Framework and cloud financial management principles.
  • Experience analyzing complex cloud billing data and developing actionable cost optimization recommendations.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful FinOps strategies, cloud cost optimization initiatives, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience with cost allocation, showback/chargeback, cloud budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to investigate cloud cost anomalies and work with technical teams to resolve cost-related issues.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and supporting multiple internal stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise or multi-cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Apptio and Cloudability is highly preferred.
  • Exposure to GCP cloud financial management and optimization.
