Job Description:

Job title: CAE Application Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI (Onsite)

Job Type: 12 Months Contract

Pay Rate: $60/hr - $70/hr

Note: We are not able to consider C2C or third-party submissions

Role Overview

This position coordinates the installation, integration, operation, and ongoing support of engineering applications within a secure cloud environment. The initial focus centers on onboarding computer-aided engineering applications, including virtual-desktop-installed software and license-server infrastructure, with the long-term goal of evolving individual application deployments into an integrated engineering application environment. The role involves collaboration across technical service providers to ensure applications and infrastructure are securely deployed, appropriately licensed, and operationally supported.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and document application requirements including binaries, infrastructure, dependencies, user populations, licensing models, authentication, and installation sequencing.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to install and configure computer-aided engineering applications in virtual desktop and cloud environments.
  • Identify applications requiring additional infrastructure such as license servers, databases, integrations, high-performance computing, and specialized virtual machine configurations.
  • Support testing, user validation, and the transition of deployments to steady-state operations.
  • Participate in application and solution architecture reviews, documenting current- and target-state architectures, dependencies, and operational ownership.
  • Support integration planning between computer-aided engineering tools, product lifecycle management platforms, requirements-management platforms, and data-transfer capabilities.
  • Maintain an inventory of cloud license types, stock-keeping units, assigned quantities, available capacity, and forecasted demand.
  • Monitor license consumption proactively to initiate procurement requests before capacity limits are reached.
  • Reconcile cloud environment charges to subscriptions, applications, environments, and users while preparing recurring cost reports and billing extracts.
  • Investigate unexpected usage, cost variances, and consumption trends with internal cloud, billing, and finance teams to maintain current cost forecasts.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience: Seven or more years of experience installing and supporting computer-aided engineering tools, such as MATLAB, Simulink, ANSA, LS-DYNA, or LS-PREPOST.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and operations, including virtual machines, storage, identity, monitoring, backup, and cost management. Experience supporting Windows-based virtual desktop applications or comparable hosted desktop environments. Solid understanding of floating or concurrent software licensing models, license server technologies, and software asset management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with regulated government cloud environments or secure hosting infrastructures.
  • Hands-on experience managing virtual desktops or cloud-based workstation environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud financial management, consumption reporting, chargeback processes, or cost allocation.
  • Understanding of security assessment, application onboarding, architecture-review, and change-management processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing systems-integration experience spanning interfaces, authentication, and data flows.
