Summary

Fiber Optics Technician
Location: Richmond, VA
Position Overview
We are seeking a Fiber Optics Technician to support the installation, routing, and maintenance of fiber optic cabling systems. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on experience working with fiber optic cable who is looking to continue building their skills in a growing telecommunications and infrastructure environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with the installation, routing, and dressing of fiber optic cables
Terminate and test fiber optic connections under the guidance of senior technicians
Perform fiber patching and cable management activities
Support troubleshooting of fiber connectivity issues
Read and follow basic diagrams, cable schedules, and project documentation
Label, document, and organize fiber infrastructure accurately
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Work closely with team members to complete project milestones and daily objectives
Qualifications
Some experience handling, pulling, terminating, patching, or testing fiber optic cable
Experience in telecommunications, low voltage, structured cabling, data centers, or a related field is preferred
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
Ability to follow written instructions and technical documentation
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Reliable transportation to work sites in the Richmond area
Ability to lift equipment and materials and work in physically demanding environments
Preferred Experience
Fiber optic cable installation or cable pulling
Fiber termination or testing
Structured cabling experience
Data center, telecommunications, or construction experience

We're looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working with their hands, learning new technical skills, and being part of a team. The ideal candidate has some exposure to fiber optic cabling and is eager to continue developing their expertise in telecommunications infrastructure.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $55.00/hr.
