Detailed Job Description:

Position Requirements:

• Must be badged at a nuclear site for Critical Group access (pass drug and background test). This role will be assisting in testing and documenting SIEM hardware, network infrastructure, and software in support of a regulated nuclear environment. Experience with virtualization and Windows Server.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain a small lab in Warrenville.
• Racking and cabling servers and hardware.
• Configure virtual machines (VMs) and Windows servers.
• Use GUI tools to configure firewall rules (Cisco FPD).
• Support the design and next-generation monitoring systems (STEM) for nuclear plants.

Technical Skills Required

• Server Skills: RAID configuration, racking, cabling, Windows Server 2019/2022/2025.
• Virtualization: Configuring VMs on hypervisors like ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox.
• Networking: Basic understanding of IP addresses, gateways, routes.
• SIEM Tools: Familiarity with Splunk helpful (not mandatory).
• Firewall: Basic ability to change rules using GUI; not required to be a Cisco expert.
• Experience: 3 5 years preferred; degree not required.
• Hardware Preference: HP servers, Cisco networking equipment.

Work Conditions & Requirements

• Fully on-site (no remote work initially due to air-gapped lab).
• Standard business hours: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (flexible to 7:00 AM 3:30 PM if needed).
• No overtime expected.
• Nuclear access requires:
• Background check and psych evaluation.
• Drug testing (zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs during/on work).
• Regular use of nuclear badge (~every 20 days).
