Job Description ECS is seeking a
Jr. Systems Engineer to work in our
Stafford, VA office.
The ECS Team provides agile software development and maintenance for CODIS, a mission-critical application for the FBI. CODIS is a client server application developed using Microsoft .NET that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons. CODIS software allows local, state, and national laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, thereby linking serial crimes to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes to individuals' profiles.
- Set up and manage Windows applications
- Customer support
- Occasional need for off-hours support for system upgrades, patches and maintenance activities
- Working knowledge of AWS administration
Required Skills - and active Secret clearance
- System Administration experience
- Experience with Active Directory Management and group policies
- Helpdesk support for issues
- Strong attention to detail and solid troubleshooting ability
- Install and maintain client workstations, including installation and configuration of third-party applications
- Knowledge of scripting language(s), PowerShell preferred
- AWS console administration for EC2, IAM, VPC, and AMIs
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals
- Create and maintain virtual images locally and in AWS for servers and workstations
- Occasional need for off-hours support for system upgrades, patches and maintenance activities
Desired Skills - Knowledge and experience of typical build and release management processes, including continuous integration platforms such as TeamCity
- Experience in Agile SDLC, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
- Previous experience working in a software development shop
- Knowledge of security monitoring/scanning tools and their usage.
- Current AWS Certification
- Current Security + certification
- Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and system issues based on severity, following established procedures
